The 11 days and 10 nights tour package provides a perfect opportunity to have a firsthand view of the South Indian marvels and culture.
Day 1 :
The staging point for starting the tour is one of the oldest cities of India which was established in the year 1639 by the British, Chennai. The tourists arrive in Chennai and are escorted to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2 :
After breakfast the tourists are taken on a tour of Chennai. The tour covers Mylapora Temple, Gandhi Memorial, Kala Kshetra and Marine Beach. The tour takes about half the day after which the tourists are driven to Covelong. They are checked into the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3 :
The tourists are free to explore and enjoy the Covelong beach. They return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 4 :
The drive to Puducherry commences after breakfast and checkout. The tourists are checked in at the hotel after their arrival in Puducherry. Thereafter, the tourists are taken to the historic Aurobindo Ashram to experience some spiritual bliss. The tourists are also able to see the room where Aurobindo lived. A visit to Pondicherry museum with its collection of bronze items from the chola dynasty, discoveries of Arikamedu and other artifacts is another wonderful experience. The tourists return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 5 :
The tourists are served breakfast prior to the drive to Thanjavur. Thanjavur is 237 kilometres away from Puducherry and the drive takes 6 hours. The tourists check in the hotel. In the afternoon, the tourists are taken to the Brihadeshwara Temple and Fort. This is a world heritage site built by the Chola emperors. It is known for its magnificent architecture. Thereafter, the tourists are also taken to the Thanjavur Palace and Musuem. The tourists can visit the library and the art gallery which are also parts of the museum. Finally, the tourists are driven back to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 6 :
The onward journey to Madurai starts after breakfast at the hotel. On the way to Madurai, the tourists are halted at ancient city of Trichy. The main tourist attraction of the city is the Rock Fort with its 434 steps leading to the ancient temple of Lord Ganesha at the top and a Shiva temple at even greater height. Robert Cliveâ€™s house and the Danish Church are other main attractions. The journey to Madurai is continued. The tourists are checked in the hotel on arrival for overnight stay.
Day 7 :
In the morning, the tourists visit the Meenakshi Temple dedicated to the wife of Lord Shiva. Thereafter, the tourists are taken to the Thirumalai Nayak Palace. This is a majestic structure with stucco works on its domes and arches. The drive to Periyar starts later in the day. The tourists check in the hotel on arrival.
Day 8 :
After breakfast the tourists are taken to the famous Periyar wildlife sanctuary. The tourists can go for a boat ride in the Periyar lake inside the sanctuary because it is an innovative and enjoyable way to spot the wildlife especially the wild elephants. In the afternoon, the tourists are driven to Kumarakom for overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 9 :
The tourists visit the Kumarakom bird sanctuary in the morning. Later in the day, the drive to Alleppey commences. The distance is just 27 kilometres. In Aleppey, the tourists are accommodated in an airconditioned deluxe houseboat. The houseboat traverses the famous backwaters of Kerala and allows a glimpse into the villages of Kerala. The tourists stay overnight at the houseboat.
After breakfast the tourists are driven to the port city of Cochin. The tourists are taken on a tour of the city which includes Fort Cochin, Dutch Palace, Santa Cruz Basilica and St. Francis Church. Thereafter, the tourists proceed to the airport to take the flight to Chennai. On arrival, the tourists are taken to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 11 :
The tourists are driven to the airport after breakfast for taking the flights home.
